Project Overview

This project involved complete SCADA system for the Water Directorate of Mosul (DOW). The system is built on a Server/Client architecture utilizing a PC-based runtime environment featuring one Server, 3 Client Stations and 10 WebUX Clients. The SCADA was programmed, and deployed using SIMATIC WinCC Professional V19.

The SCADA system acquired data from the instruments distributed throughout the area through OPC DA by connecting to the E+H OPC DA Server RXO20. This OPC server enables real-time access to critical process parameters such as flow values directly from the connected Endress+Hauser field devices.

The SCADA system integrated with 43 remote devices through Mosul governate utilizing different communication methodologies such as GPRS communication, antenna-based wireless communication and LoRa technology where a local LoRa gateway transmits telemetry data over a SIM-card cellular internet connection to a public HiveMQ MQTT broker.

Historically, these 43 remote stations operated on isolated network segments, forcing operators to manually log into the individual built-in web interfaces of each Endress+Hauser recorder via a web browser to view local data.
All stations were unified on network to allows the SCADA system to access data from all field devices directly, removing the need for manual browser-based tracking.

Levant Engineering also provided intensive, hands-on training course for 14 engineers from the Water Directorate. The training involved topics such as project creation, Server/Client setup, WinCC dynamic animations, event triggers, HMI tags, user-defined data types (UDTs), and modular faceplate design. In addition to historical data logging, user administration and HMI alarms.
